Can't Wait originated from an experiment with technique and self-control.
I started with an expressionistic portrait in paint, where emotion, speed, and power dominate. Then I deliberately removed parts of the painting (with a heavy heart) and refilled them with pen drawings.
The portrait is thus constructed like a chessboard of paint and pen.
The painted parts represent emotion, impulse, and chaos. The pen drawings require time, patience, and control.
By alternating these two techniques, a visual balance is created between letting go and controlling. Can't Wait is about self-control in a world that constantly stimulates, accelerates, and pushes out of balance. Not by suppressing emotion, but by framing it.
